About the Pastor
Pastor Joy Eng-Matos is a “China-Rican” (i.e., Chinese-Puerto Rican), born and raised in New York City to a Chinese immigrant father and a Puerto Rican mother. Raised in the Catholic Church, she has loved God and wanted to serve Him for as long as she can remember.
After studying business for two years at NYU, Joy transferred to Central Bible College to pursue her calling. Joy moved to Massachusetts in 1985 and to Quincy in 2009. She has raised a family and has served a number of churches in various leadership capacities. She was ordained in 2012 and is associated with the National Association of Congregational Christian Churches. She earned an MBA from Bentley University and a Master of Theological Studies from Boston University School of Theology, where she also earned a Certificate in Religion and Conflict Transformation.
Ephesians 3:20-21 is one of her favorite Scriptures and New Day's theme:
"Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen."
